Member Testimonies

Hello,

My name is Jeff Meredith and, as you, I am a resident of the Eastview Area. I am 54 years old and was raised in Madison Township from a youth and have lived in Eastview since 1977, enjoying my residency in both Madison Township and Eastview. However, I must tell you that until just a few years ago, I had not taken full advantage of one of the biggest assets the area has to offer. I am referring to Saint Timothy Lutheran Church on Ashland Rd. near SR 30.

My wife and I are raising our granddaughter (Tiffany) and as a result of my mother attending Saint Timothy I decided it would be a good congregation to begin Tiffany’s religious training. Although my mother had encouraged me to attend on a number of occasions it had fallen on deaf ears. However, one day after I had picked up Tiffany from Sunday school, she looked at me and said “Daddy, big people don’t have to go to church. Huh!!” Smacked me right between the eyes, not much of an example was I setting.

The next Sunday I showed up for services, and I am not going to tell you that it was without skepticism. The friendly and open demeanor of the members of the congregation quickly erased any fears I may have had of not being accepted as one of them. Since that time Tiffany and I have had the opportunity to be baptized together and the Church has become an integral part of our lives.

Please do not misunderstand, this communiqué is not meant to be coercive. I simply do not want other residents of Eastview who may for whatever reason, feel the same need that I did, to not be aware of the warm and friendly family that is awaiting them at Saint Timothy Lutheran Church.

Sincerely,

Jeff Meredith

My husband, Jim, and I moved to the Mansfield area several years ago. We were looking for a church and attended St. Timothy. We were welcomed with open arms and soon felt the people there were our church “family.” Our own family grew in numbers to include 4 sons and a daughter; our family also grew spiritually. It was at St. Timothy that our children worshiped God and were baptized, and attended Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and Catechism classes. They learned to love and serve others and that is reflected in their life choices. Now our grandchildren are there.

When Jim and I are wintering in Florida, we miss our “family” at St. Timothy. We are always so glad to be with them when we arrive home.

I have been attending St. Timothy for a number of years. I originally started attended because I lived in the area and I was a Lutheran Christian, but I became a member because I felt so welcomed. I continue to attend because I can’t imagine being anywhere else. I sing in the choir and work on service projects. This summer I will be the Director for Camp Creation, our Vacation Bible School; your children are invited to come and learn about God’s love and forgiveness in Jesus while having fun at Camp Creation. If you don’t have a church home and feel something is missing in your life, try us. God “lives” at St. Timothy.
